A return to high school

The other night I had another high school dream. I don't know where these are coming from. Really, don't.

In this dream, it all seemed normal. For some reason, I was returning to high school. And I was scared, panicked or nervous at all. I drove myself and arrived in time for my early class. Just like my senior year. I had an early class before first period then. We called them A, B classes because the rest of the day was first period, second period and so on.

The year prior to the year I started high school, the administration decided to take out all of the lockers because a kid came to school with a gun. Their solution was to get rid of lockers so no one could hide anything. That only meant we all carried our backpacks all day. So I went to high school without lockers.

I was driving my my old high school the other day and noticed there were lockers in the hallways (at least what I could see from the road).

In my dream, I first couldn't find a parking spot. I went to the spot where my grandma used to pick me up after school. I thought I remembered a secret spot, but all the spots were marked as reserved or had a meter. My school was connected to the local recreation center and there was a parking lot that was specifically marked as not being parking for the high school. You could get towed for parking there. So, I checked all the spots and found nothing. Then I somehow got the car by the bike racks and then things got strange. Someone told me I couldn't park my car there, etc. He told me there were spots in the back.

I drove around to the back where I remember a lot of kids parked. Then I was on foot looking for my locker. Someone told me I could leave my backpack in the back of the school. There were a bunch of cubby holes and/or lockers at the back and everyone was swarming to them to get their stuff put away.

When I saw the crowd and that people were starting to stack their things on top of the lockers, I decided I'd just keep my things with me. Besides, I was already going to be late for my first class. I asked a girl next to me if they punish you for taking your backpack to class. She told me they didn't.

I decided to just go to class. My first class was math and I wasn't sure where the room was and I was already 10 minutes late. I went into the school and decided I had to find out why there weren't lockers. Because if people were scrabbling for a cubby hole or whatever, then there weren't lockers in the school. I started down the hall and came to where the lockers should have been. All that was there were some kind of bulletin boards the same size and shape as lockers.

And that's where it ended.
